Graphic novelist John Gallagher, creator of the “Max Meow: Cat Crusader” series, explained his craft and entertained students in the Lower School Media Center on Wednesday, March 12.
Gallagher discussed his approach to writing, drawing and creativity. He demonstrated how he draws characters and uses detail to bring them to life, using his feline superhero as an example.
An award-winning artist and writer, Gallagher co-founded Kids Love Comics, an organization promoting children’s literacy through graphic novels. He is also the art director for National Wildlife Federation’s “Ranger Rick” magazine. Gallagher is one of eight authors to visit Barstow so far during the 2024-2025 school year, and his visit was arranged through Rainy Day Books.
