More than 200 students, parents and faculty and staff members spent part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday at Barstow in service to others.
The Barstow Parents' Association and the school's Inclusion, Diversity + Equity committee planned volunteer opportunities in students in kindergarten through grade 12 on Monday, Jan. 15. Although the weather forced the postponement of off-campus service projects, students in all divisions gathered in the dining hall and packed 100 Happy Kits for teenagers at Children's Mercy Hospital, wrote 150 cards and notes to residents at Brookdale Senior Living Centers and made more than 200 cat and dog toys for animals at Wayside Waifs.
Although the on-site Wayside Waifs service project was postponed, you can still volunteer or donate by contacting Barstow parent and BPA board member Anna Racuglia at araccuglia@waysidewaifs.org.
