Three Students Named Commended Scholars

Congratulations to three members of the Class of 2025 who are National Merit Commended Scholars.
Haddie Schedler, Kat Somogie and Cam Westphal qualified for the academic honor through their achievements on the PSAT last year. Commended Scholars are among the top 3% of PSAT scorers, about 34,000 students annually.

Commended Scholars are chosen based on a Selection Index qualifying score that varies from year to year. For the class of 2025, the minimum score to be considered for Commended Scholar honors was 208, the highest cutoff in four years. It is calculated by adding the scores for the math, reading and writing/language sections of the test, multiplying the sum by two and then dividing by ten.

Barstow's Commended Scholars students will receive a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Competition, and may be eligible for certain corporate scholarships.
