KNIGHTS HOST JOPLIN TEAM

The Barstow girls tennis team took on yet another state final four '23 qualifier, #4 in the state last year, Thomas Jefferson Independent.  Thomas Jefferson swept the double play but not without some resistance.  Sonya Shkuta and Anya Stanojevic started sluggishly and fell behind early, 2-7.   The pair regrouped, found their first serves, and relied off four games in a row to pull within one before dropping the set 5 -8.   Emelia Prier and Duha Azaz played well but lost at #2, as did Elliott Clement and Mira Gupta at #3 doubles.  

In singles, at #1, Sonya played from behind most of the set until she rallied to win 9-7, and Anya Stenojevic rolled handily through her match with a win, 8-3.

The girls will host their own BARSTOW INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT tomorrow on the Plaza, and the play will begin at 8:30 am.
