Barstow Earns Top Designation on AP Honor Roll
The Barstow School is named on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll, with the added distinction of Platinum level status.
The Honor Roll recognizes schools with AP programs that deliver outstanding results and broaden college access for students.
Schools earn the Honor Roll recognition based on their ability to increase their college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit and by maximizing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Barstow had 93% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 74% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 41% of seniors who took five or more AP exams, all well above the AP benchmarks for recognition.
Barstow offers 25 AP® courses in the arts, English, history and social sciences, mathematics, science world languages and additional coursework in computer science.
Barstow's college counseling program, renowned for its individualized approach, stands as one of the most respected in the region, actively dedicated to empowering our students to thrive academically. President of the Barstow Schools, Shane Foster, emphasizes the pivotal role played by our exceptional teachers in this endeavor.

"We firmly believe that our students' achievements, stemming from their participation in challenging AP courses, are significantly amplified by the invaluable guidance provided by our dedicated counselors, Scott Hill and Caelin Anderson, and the unwavering support of our outstanding teaching staff."

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, while still in high school. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available to them, and research indicates that students who score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree.
