Girls Tennis Upsets Pembroke Hill

Girls tennis defeated St. Michael the Archangel 6-3 on Friday, Oct. 4, and went on to celebrate a dominant victory over the Pembroke Hill Raiders on Wednesday, Oct. 9, winning 7-2.
The Knights opened the Pembroke tournament with a sweep of the three double matches, and then went on to take 4 of the 6 singles.

After falling behind early, Atra Biria and Anya Stanojevic made an aggressive comeback in #1 doubles, finishing off the Raiders 8-6.

Freshman Rose Biria and sophomore Emilia Prier played as a strong duo in #2 doubles, finishing with an 8-4 win.

At #3 doubles, junior Sonya Shkuta and sophomore Duha Azaz began with a strong 4-1 lead and stayed consistent to finish with an 8-2 victory.

Knights continued to dominate in singles, with Atra and Rose winning 6-0 and 6-1 at #1 and #2 singles. Sonya finished with a 6-1 win at #3 singles. Anya claimed the final victory of the night with a 6-2 win.

The team will compete on Friday, Oct. 11 in the District 7 Individual Tournament at Grain Valley.
