Girls Tennis Heads to Final Four

Girls tennis finished off a terrific two weeks of district and sectionals with a victory against previously undefeated Springfield Catholic on Monday, Oct. 21.
At #1 doubles, senior Atra Biria and freshman Anya Stanojevic opened the action with a 8-2 victory, and at #2 doubles, freshman Rose Biria and sophomore Emilia Prier dominated from the outset. At #3 doubles junior Sonya Shkuta and sophomore Duha Azaz celebrated a 8-3 win.
 
At #2 singles Rose finished off her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Atra faced a strong opponent in #1 singles, holding an early 3-2 lead and winning 6-2 in the final set and team match..
 
Atra and Rose Biria are in Springfield participating in the State Individual Singles and Doubles Tournament at the Cooper Center. They defeated opponents from Platte County and Ladue out of St. Louis in Thursday's doubles tournament and will face MIDCS, another opponent from St. Louis, on Friday, Oct. 24. The entire team will travel to Springfield again next Thursday, Oct. 31 for the Final Four, also at the Cooper Center on Thursday and Friday. Congratulations to the team, and go Knights!
