Robotics Team Gets Spirited Send-off to Regionals

Members of Robotics Team 1939 stood at the front of the auditorium on Wednesday, April 2, while their upper school classmates cheered them on toward success at the  FIRST Robotics Oklahoma Regional Competition in Shawnee this week.
Barstow's team will compete alongside 47 other high school robotics teams. This competition comes just four weeks after the FIRST Central Missouri Regional in Sedalia, Missouri, in which the team made it all the way to the semifinals. Since then, members have reflected on the experience and developed new game strategies. They have also made functional and aesthetic improvements to their robot at IDEA Space, including re-cutting metal pieces and redesigning systems to help enhance performance against competitor robots. They also used the CNC router to add their team name and rabbit logo. Sophomore Emily Smith says that she  hopes her teammates’ competitive drive and strategy, as well as their new and improved robot, will exceed team and community expectations.
