2024-2025 Members

The Barstow School is a nonprofit corporation overseen by a board of trustees — alumni, parents of current or former students, and supporters from the Kansas City community. The board's governance began upon the retirement of Mary Louis Barstow in 1923. Members appoint heads of school, preside over campus acquisitions and improvements, set investment guidelines for financial resources and uphold Barstow's mission "to promote sound scholarship and to give symmetrical development to mind, body, and character."

  • Chair

    Soni Patel is a Barstow upper school parent and the 2023-2024 Chair of the Barstow Board of Trustees.
    As a management consultant, Soni specializes in helping clients utilize data analytics to drive productivity and streamline existing business processes. Soni is a dedicated community volunteer and actively serves on several local and national nonprofit boards. She holds a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and a MBA from the Yale School of Management.
     
    Soni resides in Leawood with her husband, Amar, and two children, Amara ’24 and Eshan ’26.
