Earlier this month, students in grade 4 science, in preparation for their own invention project, started discussing inventors. They talked about the different ways and methods inventors spark their own creativity to come up with ideas, and practiced coming up with their own ideas through various creative class activities.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, fourth graders had the opportunity to visit with an authentic inventor. Barstow parent Jennifer Garbos, who previously worked for Hallmark, visited the classroom to talk about her experience with the development of story buddies, plush animals that interact with stories as they are read aloud.
Mrs. Garbos read Jingle All The Way, a Christmas-themed story about a husky puppy named Jingle, and demonstrated how the stuffed plush husky that comes with the book responds with sounds when key words are spoken.
Fourth graders will continue their own invention projects after winter break.
