Debate Blows Away Windy City
Debate duos junior Aun Hathiari & senior Haddie Schedler and sophomores Duha Azaz & Charlotte Turner put on a strong showing at the Glenbrooks Invitational in Illinois over Thanksgiving break. They competed against some of the nation’s top debaters.
One hundred and eighty eight teams competed in the varsity division this year, the most since Barstow began attending this tournament.
In Junior Varsity, Duha and Charlotte ended 3-3 after six preliminary debates, narrowly losing their last debate and their elimination spot.
In the Varsity division, Aun and Haddie ended 4-3 following seven preliminary debates, also narrowly losing their last debate and their elimination spot.
This is the best performance Barstow has had at this tournament since 2020, when Phoebe Brous and Rishi Malay, class of 2021, qualified for the Tournament of Champions (TOC).
