The essay topic for the 2024-2025 American History Essay Contest for grades 5-8 was, “Enjoying a new kind of Tea Party,” referencing the 1770's protest movement by American Colonists against the British due to taxes and laws, specifically protests led by women such as the Edenton and Wilmington Tea Parties. The DAR essay contest was established to encourage young people to think creatively about our nation’s history and learn about it through the lens of creative writing.
