Faculty Member Honored for Welcoming Classroom Environment
World Language Department Chair Amanda Marvin is the 2025 recipient of the Betsi Brooks Krumm Award.
Each year, an outstanding faculty member is given the award in honor of Betsi Brooks Krumm '90, an alumna who dedicated her career to teaching prior to her passing in 2003.
In addition to chairing the world language department, Profe Marvin teaches upper school Spanish and serves as grade 12 co-coordinator. She was nominated for the award by her peers, who commended her for providing a comfortable and welcoming learning environment in her classroom, and creating connections among faculty members. She was presented with the award by Betsi’s husband, Dr. Berent Krumm, her classmate and Barstow trustee Jenny Thiessen Waldeck ’90, and Lauren Kanan ’15, Director of Alumni Relations.
