Once again, Barstow's cybersecurity team is the top Missouri finisher in the gold division of the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.
The contest, sponsored by CyberPatriot, challenges participants to outthink and outwit digital sleuths in a series of computer security tests based on real-world situations. Following their top state finish in December, team members will compete in the national gold division semifinal on Friday, Jan. 19.
The cybersecurity team is coached by Vice President of Technology and upper school computer science teacher Scott Daniel. Congratulations to sophomores Carlos Salazar, Eshan Patel and Sam Golladay and seniors Sunny Gandhari, Justin Jeong and Chetan Thomas!
What is CyberPatriot? CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. At the core of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, the nation's largest cyber defense competition that puts high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks.
