Solar Eclipse Viewing
On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. Kansas City will experience a deep partial eclipse beginning at 12:37 p.m. The school will provide glasses that meet ISO standards to students in grades 1-12 so they may safely view the eclipse while on campus.
Students in preschool, pre-K and kindergarten will be able to watch a televised broadcast of the eclipse indoors. Kindergarten students will receive eclipse glasses as a souvenir from the event.
In Kansas City, a Deep Partial Eclipse of magnitude 90.7% will be visible. The Partial Eclipse begins at 12:37 p.m. through 3:11 p.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring at 1:54 p.m. when 90.7% of the sun’s surface will be covered by the moon. The next opportunity to view a total solar eclipse from the contiguous United States won't occur until 2044.
