Author of Beloved Book Series Visits Early Childhood

Another award-winning author visited Barstow on Thursday, Nov. 7. Michael Sampson is a co-author of easy-to-read books like "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
From our youngest students in preschool prep through the first grade classes, Sampson's audience enjoyed hearing some of their favorite rhythmic stories and repetitive phrases read aloud by the author himself. They chanted along with the the counting phrases in "Chicka Chicka 1-2-3," and the repeating verse of "Bing! Bang! Chugga! Beep," a story based on Sampson's favorite childhood toy car.

He is currently on a book tour across the country, promoting his newest work with writing partner Bill Martin, Jr. "Rainbow Bear" is a continuation of the bear family book series that emerging readers love. They learn the names of every color of the rainbow while following Little Bear as he wakes up from his hibernation and fills his hungry belly with berries.
