Athletic Center Named for President Shane Foster

The Barstow School Board of Trustees announced on Monday, August 12, that the school's new athletic building will be named the Foster Athletic Center in honor of President Shane Foster.
The tribute is a testament to his visionary leadership of the School for 17 years. He is the second-longest serving head of school in Barstow's 140 year history, surpassed only by our founder,  Mary Louise Barstow.

Mr. Foster has overseen nearly two decades of remarkable growth, philanthropy and athletic achievement at Barstow, significantly growing enrollment and facilities on our Kansas City campus and expanding Barstow's presence around the world. He has announced his retirement in June; and the center will stand as a lasting legacy of his dedication and commitment to our community.

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we extend our deepest gratitude to Shane for his bold leadership and for his commitment to the mission and values of The Barstow School," Board Chair Soni Patel said.

The Foster Athletic Center is a 12,000-square-foot, two-story facility featuring state-of-the-art golf hitting bays, a dance studio, locker rooms, event space, a concession stand and an outdoor patio with impressive views of the soccer field and the Graves Family Baseball Stadium. The School will host a grand opening celebration on Friday, Sept. 27, in conjunction with Harvest Festival. The schedule of grand opening tours and events is available here.
