KNIGHTS ROLL IN INDIVIDUAL DISTRICT

The Barstow boys tennis team had a big day on Friday in the District 7 Individual Tournament.  In singles, Sankeerth Gandhari beat Carl Junction 6-0, 6-0 in the second round. In the all-important second round that locks up a trip to state, Sunny defeated Thomas Jefferson Independent 6-1, 6-0.  In the finals, Sunny played a flawless baseline game for a 6-1, 6--0 victory and a trip to Springfield.
In the other singles slot, freshman Liam Groden won his first-round against Ruskin with ease and rolled through his second round 6-0, 6-1 against Belton.  Though Liam lost a close one in the semis, he came back and won a third-place medal in the district by defeating Thomas Jefferson Independent.  
In doubles, Richey and Bobby King rolled through the first round, 0,0, and whipped Thomas Jefferson 0, 1 in the semifinals to lock up a trip to state.  To top off their day they dominated the #1 TJ team 6-0, 6-1 in the finals to win the district 7 doubles championship.  
In the other doubles, George Colombo and Aaram Salam won 0,1 against Ruskin in the opening and 0-4 against Belton in the second round.  Though they lost a tough semifinal round to T. Jefferson's #1 team, they came back and beat their two team 6-3, 6-4 to capture 3rd place medals for the district tournament.  
The Knights begin the District 7 Team tournament on Tuesday at the Barstow courts.
